The Moral Cost of “Climate Change” Legislation

poor“And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.””

- Genesis 1:28

Stewardship of the earth is not an option for, it is a command. God gave mankind the charge to work and produce and take care of the natural resources that He created. Wasteful and reckless consumption with no care for the consequences is a morally untenable position.

The proponents of man made climate change and their political allies, however see things a little differently. They do not see the earth as having been created by God or man in God’s image. They have created a faith system whereby nature itself is God and man a violator of its domain. Under such a philosophy man can and does become an expendable component in the preservation and veneration of nature. This is clearly evidenced by the consequences of much of the “climate change” legislation on the state, federal, and international levels.

Despite what many in the media and in Hollywood would suggest, man made climate change is not a scientific reality. I will not debate the finer points of it here except to point out that there is as much we don’t know as we do. This, however, does not keep those who have embraced this green religion from being hell bent at radically changing American society “damn the costs”. This is extremely inhumane considering it is the most vulnerable among us who end up having to saddle the legislative burdens forwarded by the green left.

This Is Not A Tragedy!

majhasan According to Websters dictionary the word tragedy is defined as:

a: a disastrous event : calamity b : misfortune

If Major Hasan had been motivated solely by madness then we might be inclined to call this a tragedy much like any other senseless violent acts that have been perpetrated in our nations history. There is a method, however, to this mans madness that has been coming out piece by piece as the investigation continues.

In a recent article posted on the Real Clear Politics website, former New York Mayor and author Ed Koch made a compelling case that common sense says that Hasan is a terrorist:

“I believe the burden of proof has shifted to those in and out of government who believe the public should withhold its opinion on whether Hasan was a terrorist or simply deranged. I have concluded that he was a terrorist…

U.S. public opinion is far too intelligent to jump to a conclusion, but it is also intelligent enough to understand when it is being conned by our own government.

It seems to me that political correctness has reached the point where the FBI and the U.S. Army have allowed it to influence their investigations in life and death situations.”

Please visit the link to see the evidence Mayor Koch and others have compiled that clearly demonstrate Major Hasan’s terrorist qualifications. If, however, that evidence doesn’t persuade you have a look at the following snapshot of Major Hasan’s business card:

The “SoA” that you see printed there is an acronym for Soldier of Allah. This man was not just deranged he was sinfully and ideologically motivated. This was not an accident it was premeditated terror. This is not a tragedy!

Vets Know What War Is All About!

flagpicOn this Veterans Day, I thought I would share with you one of my favorite movie military clips. When our vets came home from Vietnam, many were treated like war criminals. It always does my heart good to see John Wayne on the big screen depicting the human side of war and the desire of our GI’s to do good wherever Uncle Sam sends them. This one goes out to all men and women who put their lives on the line for my freedom and for the freedom of countless millions of those whom they have liberated around the world. Thank-you. You know what war is all about!

We Don’t Need A King!

crownBut the people refused to obey the voice of Samuel. And they said, “No! But there shall be a king over us, that we also may be like all the nations, and that our king may judge us and go out before us and fight our battles.” And when Samuel had heard all the words of the people, he repeated them in the ears of the Lord. And the Lord said to Samuel, “Obey their voice and make them a king.” Samuel then said to the men of Israel, “Go every man to his city.”

- I Samuel 8:19-22

I have read this passage before but the import of it never hit me like it has recently. The nation of Israel were being guided by God himself through His appointed representatives the Judges. God was their King and it was His wisdom that was the foundation of their governance. The people of Israel, however, were not satisfied with God as their king. They wanted to be like the “other nations”. Instead of trusting in the wisdom of God, they wanted to heed the wisdom of man.

Much like the nation of Israel in that passage, the United States is at a crossroads. We have a government, albeit flawed, that is established on wisdom and on the reliance of God as the protector of our “natural rights”. Instead of being satisfied with this those on the far left, including our President, want to be like the “other nations”. They want us to trade our time tested form of government that expects individuals to be responsible for themselves and recognizes God as the giver of our rights for a nanny state government that does everything for us. This nanny state would in effect become our sovereign to whom we would be bound to obey.

The current health care legislation that has passed the house and that is supported by the left in the senate would do more to push us towards a “nanny state sovereign” than any other bits of legislation previous. This 2,037 page bill would cost an estimated $1.3 trillion dollars and would take over 18% of the United States economy. It would be sweeping in its oversight and mandate requiring all Americans to purchase government “allowed” health care plans or force fines of up to $15,000 or jail terms of up to 5 years. This legislation may be shrouded in humanitarian language but beneath the surface it is a blatant attempt to re-engineer our society to shape us in the image of the modern, European, socialist, “nanny-state monarchies”. If you doubt my analysis consider the words of the President’s chief of staff Mr. Rahm Emanuel:

“You never want a serious crisis to go to waste,…”

The health care situation for some is a crisis but instead of serving the people and finding a solution that meets the needs of the people, the far left are plying the strategy of Rahm Emanuel and using this crisis to re-craft our country along their own misguided ideological lines.

We dont need a “nanny state monarchy”. What we need is a President and elected officials who are more concerned about doing what is right for the people than what is politically favorable for themselves or their political parties. We need leaders who understand our Constitution and the wise principles it established that make our nation the envy of the world some 221 years after it was founded. We don’t need a king!
